The PLI Formatting Software and RemvInit are now distributed on the PLI Utilty Disk, which is provided with all PLI drive products. If you own a PLI fixed drive product, you do not need to use RemvInit. Be sure to carefully read this entire document for additional helpful hints.
If you are using a PLI Infinity series removable media product, copy RemvInit into the System Folder on your startup drive. This Init enables your computer system to recognize your Infinity series drive, even if there is no cartridge in it when you boot. You can insert a cartridge in the drive at any time, after having booted with a System Folder containing RemvInit. The cartridge will then mount on the Desktop automatically.
NOTE: The Shareware Init "SCSI Accelerator" is not compatible with RemvInit. Do not use both of these Inits at the same time.
Initializing any PLI storage product from the finder is not recommended, since "Erase Disk" will not reallocate bad blocks. Use the PLI Formatter for optimum performance.
With the release of System 7.1, Apple has decided to end its former policy of allowing the right to copy Macintosh system software, therefore, PLI cannot provide this version with its Formatter.
